Beauty is something everyone cares about. They want to preserve their youthful appearance as long as possible. Many people will even consider cosmetic surgery to improve their skin’s appearance, reduce wrinkles and tighten the skin. These are some alternatives to surgery that will make you look younger.
Tips for Keeping a Young Look
Eat the Right Foods
Your skin will show you eat healthy because of the antioxidants found in fresh fruits, vegetables and other foods that fight free radicals. Skin can be damaged by free radicals that attract atoms. This causes aging to accelerate.
Antioxidants can prevent the formation of free radicals, which can slow down the aging process. You should eat these high-antioxidant foods:
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Pecans
- Dark Chocolate
- Apples
Because of their high antioxidant content, berry fruit are often considered natural antioxidants. This is why berry fruits are becoming more popular as natural functional food. Studies have shown that drinking green or black tea for 2-5 minutes can increase saliva’s antioxidant capacity (2).
Make Face Cleansers
Make your own face cleanser instead of spending $10-15 on expensive products. Rice milk cleanser is one cleanser that can exfoliate skin cells and smoothen your skin. Because of its Vitamin E and antioxidants, the Japanese include rice milk cleanser in their skincare products. Vitamin E is often listed on the ingredient list for skincare products as either tocopherol, or tocopheryl-acetate.
Make the cleanser by combining 1/4 cup brown rice flour, rice bran flour and two to three tablespoons unsweetened rice milk (preferably organic).
Make a paste from the mixture, and then rub it onto your skin in circular motions. Apply the mixture to your skin and then rinse off with warm water.
There are many moisturizers available if you prefer to purchase the product. They act by adding moisture to the skin and protecting it from water loss. They can be found in a variety of products such as creams, lotions, gels, and ointments.
Use Cold cream
The skin gets duller and dryer as we age. You can reverse this effect by using a moisturizer such as cold cream to hydrate your skin. Mix it up at home to make a great cold cream.
- 1/2 cup organic plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup cucumber, without seeds or dice
- 1 cup fresh aloe vera gel, cut and peeled.
- Take half of a lemon and juice it.
Blend all ingredients in a food processor. Strain it using a cheese cloth-lined mesh strainer. The mixture should be refrigerated overnight in a covered container. In the morning, you can discard it.
Place a thick layer on your face with the cold cream and let it sit for 30 minutes. Use a damp cloth to remove the cold cream and apply toner to your skin.
Face patches
Face patches, also known as “Frownies”, can smoothen wrinkles. According to plastic surgeons, the patch won’t permanently alter the skin.
The patches can be used in place of Botox or dermal fillers injections. Before you decide to get Botox injections, ensure that the aesthetician has been properly trained.
Vitamin Supplements
Vitamin supplements are a great way to keep your skin looking young and vibrant. Vitamins C, D, E, K are the best vitamins to use to conceal the signs of aging. You should eat five to six servings of fruits and vegetables per day in order to meet your daily intake of these vitamins. You can also take them as supplements or as a daily supplement.
These vitamins may help with:
- Excessive dryness
- Get rough skin
- Wrinkles
- Redness
- Dark spots
A bonus tip for keeping your youthful appearance
Sun protection is essential! All year, the sun and other forms of light can cause skin damage. You can protect your skin by finding shade whenever possible, wearing sun-protective clothes, and applying broad-spectrum sunscreen that has an SPF 30 or higher to your skin should all be part of your daily routine. Sunscreen is the best way to protect your skin from sunburns. Dr. Rebecca Kazin MD, FAAD is a Bethesda Maryland dermatologist who claims that sunscreen is the best anti-aging treatment. It shouldn’t be an additional step. It should be part of the steps you already take.”
You don’t have to resort to injectables or surgery to slow down the signs of aging. There are many other ways to reduce or prevent the effects of aging. To maintain a youthful appearance, you should pay attention to your diet and moisturize your skin.
