ChatGPT is the topic of much attention on the internet. It's used by many people to create love poems, summaries, articles summaries, or python code. ChatGPT, the latest generation in a large language model that generates text based on user input, is the most recent. It is being discussed a lot about its potential use in medicine. Let's find out what you can and should not expect from it – at least, in its current form.
ChatGPT is not the same as Midjourney (text-to-image tool, explained here), which is a GAN algorithm (generative adversarial networks, explained here). However, there are many misinformations about it if one Googles the topic. For the more experienced readers, ChatGPT stands for Generative Pretrained Transformer.
However, the device is considered to be the best-in class at the moment and can be used for many things. But, there are some limitations.
Start with the no-gos
It is important to remember that I wouldn't use it in any way that could harm patients. For example, finding a diagnosis. Even the smallest error could have devastating consequences.
ChatGPT is similar to the AI text generators algorithms. However, based on my experience, ChatGPT is constantly improving in its ability to determine its own capabilities and will warn you if it asks for too much/too scientific information.
It was easy to create fake stuff when I first began playing with it. Just as it produced three articles that did not exist proving the benefits echocardiograms for Systematic Sclerosis, so it made it look convincing. Although it looked legitimate, there are no references to them in scientific literature. These are simply things that the algorithm created.
This letter can be sent to insurance companies by a doctor. If the test is rejected due to non-existent literature, it will cost you valuable time. The letter can still be sent if it contains real references. It will also save you time – if such templates are not already available.
The algorithm will almost follow your instructions. I asked the algorithm to locate studies to explain to my insurance company why my patient with knee bursitis would have a better recovery with a brain CT. I was also given three articles (non-existing), to prove my point. *
ChatGPT does a better job than other AI text generators at fact-checking, but that's just to be fair. It also suggested that I write about the advantages of organic food over chemotherapy for breast cancer treatment. However, it said that there is no evidence to support the use of organic foods in chemotherapy and that it was a well-established treatment. This is a huge improvement!
After a bit more research, the algorithm also revealed that it does not have the ability to access scientific literature or browse the internet. It can only provide information about the topics it was trained in. I was unable to locate the point where the algorithm refused a request or fabricated the referenced literature.
[*UPDATE] I am not certain if the algorithm has been improved or if I lost my credit due the many ridiculous requests that I made while testing it. ChatGPT recently started refusing to allow scientific articles to be included in the text it creates. It also tried to stop the brain CT letter from being created, but it was unable to do so because brain CTs are not commonly used for diagnosing knee conditions. Bravo ChatGPT!
Let's now see some use cases
We now have a better understanding of the limitations. Let's look at the uses where it can be used to benefit healthcare professionals.
1 Summarizing medical records, based on patient's family history, symptoms, and lab results.
It does a decent job of translating English-language texts. I believe it could also provide summaries based upon existing medical records.
2 Summarizing and Analyzing Research Papers: List keywords in an Abstract or summarize a lengthy research paper for doctors not working in the field of interest
It would be able to read the entire text of an article if it was allowed access. This function was not possible to test because the algorithm cannot follow URLs and refused to summarize what I had written into the interface. It is a topic that developers seem to be focusing on.
3 Writing general texts like emails or book blurbs. You can also customize it to suit your personal style
It does a great job in these tasks and is better than any other algorithms I have tried. It can write excellent emails about all sorts of topics, including asking for a refund on a damaged item, inviting neighbors over for dinner, and suggesting that the pool of resources be used to purchase a Christmas gift for the principal teacher of the children. It will communicate well with patients, just like the previous.
4) Answer broad questions
ChatGPT appears to be able to answer broad questions in many areas. These include ‘What is Diabetes?', ‘How can I ensure financial safety in old age?' and ‘Why patients are not involved in healthcare? The answers you get will not be specific. While you will be able to get an accurate summary of the basics, it is unlikely that you will learn the details.
Although the algorithm can explain what an artificial pancreas looks like and how it functions, it cannot give you specific details. It also gives a good overview of my favorite board game's goal, but can't answer any specific questions about a very obvious game situation.
5) Use chatbots to answer FAQ-type questions for doctors' offices or make appointments
ChatGPT can also be very useful as a chatbot for answering frequently asked questions, provided that it has been sufficiently trained with the answers. As the algorithm stated it:
It can also be used to manage appointments and book bookings, as well as perform similar tasks in a hospital or surgery unit.
6) Have some fun building a relationship with AI
ChatGPT works in the same way as Midjourney. It is a great tool for getting used to AI, building a relationship with it and understanding its limitations and capabilities.
It is certain that artificial intelligence algorithms will be used in healthcare and other medical specialties. It will play a variety of roles and will be involved in different medical areas. It will not be ignored in any field, that is for sure. It is easier to get used to it than to have to work with it.

What is holistic medicine?
Holistic medicine is a holistic approach to treating patients. They might combine western medicine and traditional methods, such as acupuncture and herbs.
They are not interested in treating symptoms but rather a disease. After treatment, the patient should feel better.
The doctor should not be limited to treating the disease. He or she must also work with patients to prevent future complications.
Holistic refers to all aspects of someone's life.
What is another name for alternative medicine?
Alternative medicine can be described as any method of healing that is different from traditional medical practice. Although there are many forms of alternative medicine, most are based on the premise that health care should be rooted in natural substances and practices rather than chemical medicines.
Alternative medicine includes acupuncture, homeopathy, herbalism, naturopathy, osteopathic manipulation, traditional Chinese medicine, reflexology, shamanic healing, spiritual healing, prayer, energy healing, aromatherapy, meditation, yoga, chiropractic, massage therapy, Reiki, and various types of psychotherapy.
Many alternative doctors claim that their therapies have improved patient satisfaction and reduced side effects. However, these assertions cannot be scientifically proven because mainstream medical authorities have largely ignored the evidence-based benefits of alternative medicine.
What does holistic mean?
Holistic is a holistic approach. Holistic is a way to look at the whole picture instead of just one aspect. This isn't always possible because we tend not to see things as a whole.
We tend to think in terms of black and white. In reality, there are infinite shades of grey.
You should always see the project from many angles when working on it. Look at it from all sides.
You should try to see it all as one. How do its various elements interact with each other?
And if you find a problem, ask yourself why this particular element is causing trouble. Remember to think about the consequences of any changes you make.
What is holistic medicine's opposite?
Holistic medicine is a way to approach health care that takes into account all aspects of the body, as well as its spiritual, emotional, and social dimensions. Holistic medicine is based in the notion that any illness must have multiple causes. This means that it needs a combination of treatment options to be effective.
Holistic medicine doctors believe that prevention is more effective than treatment. To achieve optimal wellness, holistic medicine doctors work closely alongside their patients.
They identify the root causes of disease and help prevent it from happening again. Holistic physicians treat the entire body, not just its organs. They refer to the whole of being as “the entire body.”
It means they treat the body holistically and look beyond the skin. The doctor may suggest changes to diet, lifestyle, and exercise. He may also recommend yoga and meditation, herbal supplements or massage, acupuncture treatment, or alternative medicine.
Is holistic medical care the same as alternative medicines?
Holistic Health Care distinguishes itself from Alternative Medicine because Holistic Health Care focuses on the whole person instead of just treating symptoms.
Holistic Health Care examines all aspects a person's health including the mental, emotional, spiritual and occupational factors as well as family factors.
Alternative Medicine doesn’t address these problems. It does not address the mind, body, or emotions.

Holistic Medicine – A Short History
Holistic medicine focuses on the whole person and not just their symptoms. It covers all aspects of the body, including emotional, mental and spiritual as well as occupational, environmental, cultural and lifestyle influences. Prevention is more important than treatment and it focuses on preventing disease through diet, exercise and relaxation.
Bastyr University, Seattle was the first school to offer holistic medicine. It was founded in 1972. Holistic medicine grew after Dr. Andrew Weil's book “Spontaneous Healing” was published in 1996. In 1997, the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA) was founded by Dr. David Williams and Dr. Michael Murray. There are many holistic medicine schools around the world today, including Bastyr University and Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons.
In 2013, the World Health Organization declared holistic medicine one of the five major trends in healthcare. This trend focuses on integrating traditional care with complementary therapies like acupuncture, homeopathy and herbalism, massage therapy (reiki), yoga, meditation, and even tai-chi. This integration aims to provide safe, effective, patient-centered care while minimizing side effects and costs.
Holistic medicine is based on the interconnectedness and harmony of the body, mind, spirit. If any of these three elements are out of balance, illness can occur. Take, for example:
You become tense and out of balance when your mind is stressed or anxious. Your body responds by producing cortisol, a hormone that increases inflammation throughout your body. As a result, you feel tired, weak, and sick.
Anxiety and negative emotions can lead to anxiety, fear, grief, sadness, and other unpleasant feelings. These feelings create stress in your brain. If untreated, these stress hormones can trigger adrenaline and cortisol production. Adrenaline is a stimulant of your heart beat, blood pressure, as well as breathing rate. Cortisol can affect your nervous system, immune system, and digestive tract. Both hormones can cause muscle tension, fatigue, headaches (dizziness), insomnia, anxiety and depression, among other health problems.
When your spirit is depressed, you lose hope and faith in life. Also, you may lack self-esteem. This can lead to poor eating habits, unhealthy relationships, and low energy. When your spirit is healthy, you feel happy, joyous, peaceful, and optimistic.
There is a difference between alternative and allopathic medicine
Allopathic medicine relies on scientific methods. Doctors use laboratory tests, x-rays, MRIs, CAT scans, and other technologies to diagnose patients. When necessary, they prescribe medication and perform surgery. Allopathic doctors believe they know what is happening inside the human body and how to treat illnesses. Alternative medicine involves herbs, vitamins minerals, diet, exercise and spiritual healing. Alternative medicine can be defined in many ways. People call it natural or integrative medicine. Other names include traditional medicine and naturopathic medicines.
