Alternative Medicine Singapore

Alternative Medicine Singapore

November 2, 2022 By Peter Leave a Comment

If you're looking for a cure, alternative medicine Singapore offers a variety of treatments. These include acupuncture, homeopathy, and Naturopathy. Read on to learn more about these different methods and what they can offer you. Alternatively, you may prefer to visit a traditional medical doctor.

Homeopathy

In Singapore, the use of homeopathy has been growing steadily for the past decade. Originally, it was only used for medicinal purposes. Afterward, homeopathic therapies were introduced to the clinic's services. A resident homeopath, Dr. Ruth Ho, specializes in treating chronic skin and ear disorders, sleep disorders, and musculoskeletal imbalances. She also supports general health through preventative medicine.

In Singapore, there are many different types of alternative medicine and therapies available. The country is home to several different homeopathic practitioners. Some of them work in clinics or hospitals while others run private practices. These practitioners can be very effective and provide a variety of treatments to individuals. For many, homeopathy is a valuable addition to their regular medical regimen.

Researchers analyzed the quality of homeopathy surveys and found 26 that met the six criteria. Of these, nineteen were government-sponsored surveys while only three were non-government surveys. The data from these studies were useful as they documented significant and stable use of homeopathy.

Naturopathy

The most common presenting complaints among patients consulted by participants were musculoskeletal conditions. These patients represented all age groups. Around two thirds visited the participating naturopath's clinic for follow-up. Of these, a substantial proportion were those with chronic health conditions.

Naturopathy is an alternative medicine practice that promotes healing through non-invasive means. It is sometimes considered the closest form of Chinese medicine (TCM). Naturopaths are practitioners of natural medicine, though they are not licensed medical doctors. Their practice is not regulated by the government, so practitioners are free to practice the art.

The practice of naturopathy is holistic and aims to heal the cause of the disease. It considers a patient's lifestyle and environmental factors as part of the overall health assessment. This approach is especially suited for chronic illnesses.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the most popular forms of alternative medicine in Singapore. It involves herbal medicine, dietary theory, and massage, and aims to create a balance in the body. Although some of these methods have been incorporated into modern medicine, the practice of acupuncture remains a popular choice among Singaporeans.

The research was conducted on 14 patients attending a clinic at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Ethics approval was obtained through the institution's domain-specific ethics board. It employed a convenience sampling method, with each participant being invited to participate in face-to-face interviews. Three participants declined to participate because of time constraints.

The costs of acupuncture services were also a hindrance for some participants. They were concerned about the potential side effects of Western medicine, and preferred acupuncture as a natural therapy. They also did not feel confident in Western medicine surgeries.
