Alternative Treatment For Migraines

Alternative Treatment For Migraines

November 14, 2022 By Peter Leave a Comment

If you're prone to migraines, there are several alternative treatment options. These include Botox, Lavender oil, Acupuncture, and Transcranial magnetic stimulation. These treatments are expensive and often don't work. However, they may help you manage migraine attacks better and get faster relief.

Botox

Botox is a treatment option used to reduce the severity and frequency of migraine attacks. It is administered via small injections into the muscles in the head and neck. The treatment is typically repeated every 12 weeks. During the first three months, patients may experience improvement in migraine symptoms. Once the effects begin to wear off, treatment is discontinued.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is an alternative treatment for migraines that uses magnetic pulses to reset brain chemistry. The therapy can provide significant pain relief without the use of drugs. It involves placing a coil over the client's scalp to deliver magnetic pulses to specific brain areas. These pulses stimulate sluggish brain cells, rebalancing brain chemistry. TMS has been shown to reduce cortical hyper-excitability and cortical spreading depression.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for centuries as an alternative treatment for migraines. A trained acupuncturist will insert thin needles into specific points on your body to control pain and restore balance to the central nervous system. It may also help relieve other conditions and improve your overall health. Some studies show that acupuncture can be very helpful for those who suffer from migraine headaches.

Lavender oil

Lavender oil is a gentle, herbal treatment that helps people suffering from migraines. Lavender essential oil is also effective in reducing the stress that triggers migraines. Its soothing effects can help people deal with pain and tension and relieve PMS symptoms. Lavender is also a good choice for relieving insomnia.

Peppermint oil

Peppermint oil is a natural remedy for migraines. It contains menthol, which is known to have cooling and numbing effects. Some people apply it to the temples or forehead for relief. Be careful when applying it, though, as it can irritate the skin.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback is an alternative treatment for migraines that uses a person's body's temperature to control the migraine symptoms. The theory is that blood flow from the extremities to the head is diverted by the body's vascular system, and if this blood flow is decreased, migraine symptoms should diminish.
