Preparing curriculum for an upcoming weekend Zoom workshop in September with my partner Jeff Rediger, titled Healing Attachment Wounds In Relationship, has brought to light a critical issue. The workshop aims to provide support to individuals securely attached, navigating relationships with severe attachment trauma. Understanding the behaviors stemming from childhood attachment trauma is crucial for those from healthier family backgrounds who find it perplexing to comprehend their partner’s actions.
Trust Issues Rooted in Attachment Trauma
Children with severe attachment trauma, who endured betrayal from untrustworthy individuals, often carry deep trust issues into adulthood. As discussed in a previous article here, this leads them to test the trustworthiness of those attempting to form close relationships. Their conflict avoidance stems from associating any form of conflict with past threats, triggering a defensive response. While not their fault, seeking treatment is essential, although challenging. The inability to handle healthy confrontation due to conflict avoidance can result in relationship turmoil.
Authenticity vs. Conflict Avoidance
An illustrative incident involves my friend, Lily, who faced a dilemma when her spouse requested permission to vacation with her ex-wife. Despite feeling uncomfortable and jealous, Lily succumbed to conflict avoidance and granted permission. However, her internal turmoil led her to engage in an extramarital affair, driven by passive-aggressive retaliation. This breach of integrity, rooted in conflict avoidance, highlights the repercussions of saying “yes” when one means “no.”
Integrity and Conflict Avoidance
Reflecting on my upbringing under a narcissistic mother’s influence, I realized the danger of equating integrity with compliance and avoiding conflict. Upholding integrity demands setting boundaries, standing firm on personal beliefs, and risking displeasing others. Operating under conflict avoidance hinders authenticity, preventing individuals from expressing themselves truthfully and setting boundaries.
Spiritual Bypassing and Conflict Avoidance
Spiritual bypassing, described as conflict avoidance disguised in spiritual garb, can lead individuals to justify their actions under the guise of unconditional love. Lily’s experience underscores the consequences of conflict avoidance, urging individuals to confront their fears and insecurities honestly. Avoiding conflict by spiritualizing emotions can lead to breaches in integrity and trust.
Rebuilding Trust and Integrity
Addressing conflict avoidance and integrity breaches requires humility and a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths. By seeking therapy and engaging in open, honest communication, individuals can begin the journey of rebuilding trust and integrity. Recognizing the impact of severe attachment trauma on relationships is crucial in fostering understanding and healing.
Stay tuned for more insights on navigating conflict avoidance and integrity breaches in my upcoming articles. Subscribe for updates and consider joining the Healing Attachment Wounds In Relationship workshop for valuable guidance on relationship dynamics.

Can a holistic practitioner write prescriptions?
Holistic medicine is founded on the principle that all diseases can be caused or exacerbated by a variety of factors.
These factors are important to consider when prescribing medications. This is part of a balanced approach to treating patients.
To understand how each factor affects a patient, a physician must understand modern science and traditional methods such as herbs and homeopathy.
Many doctors are now certified in complementary and alternate medicine (C&A). This allows doctors to offer a broad range of services to their patients.
Is holistic medical safe?
Holistic Medicine does not pose a danger as many people think. However there are risks associated with this treatment. Side effects that are most common include nausea, vomiting, dizziness and drowsiness as well as diarrhea, constipation and insomnia. These side effects can be difficult to understand and must be weighed against the benefits offered by alternative treatments such acupuncture.
However, there are no known cases of death due to the use of holistic medicines.
Talk to your doctor before you begin any new treatment plan.
What are examples of alternative medicine?
Alternative medicine is any treatment that isn’t considered medically necessary to treat disease. These include traditional Chinese medicine as well homeopathy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, nutritional therapy and reiki.
Alternative medicine could also refer to any practice that has not been supported by scientific evidence but is used in clinical practice. You can use meditation, hypnosis and yoga to achieve this.

What kind of products are used in holistic medicine?
These products are best described as “natural” although not necessarily organic. Although they may have been grown using pesticides or natural fertilizers, the products were also processed in safer ways for human health. Some herbs may cause allergic reactions so you might need to prepare them differently depending on what they are. Health food stores sell herbs that are more uniform than those in grocery stores. These herbicides and/or fungicides are often higher in the latter.
The majority of herbal supplements are made from dried plants. Some people prefer to purchase them in liquid form because they are usually cheaper. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are safer. Liquid herbs can lose nutrients during processing. There’s no guarantee that the product will retain its original potency. A majority of herbal supplements aren’t subject to quality control testing before being sold.
Usually, herbs and spices are added to food after it has been cooked. These spices can be found in sauces, condiments, dressings, soup mixes, marinades, and salad dressings.
Supplements are generally taken orally (by taking them by mouth). Most vitamins or minerals come in tablet format. Some are also available as capsules.
Homeopathic remedies may be high-diluted substances that have been extracted from either plant, animal, mineral or synthetic sources. They are designed to stimulate the body’s healing systems. They are homeopathic, but do not function like regular medications. They act on the body’s immune system to restore balance, and promote wellness. Homeopathic remedies can be considered safe and non-toxic. They are used extensively in Europe, Canada and Australia, New Zealand as well as South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles into specific points along the meridians of your body. It is based a traditional Chinese medical theory that states there are energy channels through them, where the life force flows. According to the theory, illness occurs when these channels become blocked. By stimulating energy flow along the meridian lines, the body is believed to recover its normal functioning.
Chiropractors manipulate the spine to correct misalignments of the bones. American doctor Daniel David Palmer devised this method in 1895. He claimed he could diagnose ailments and cure diseases through manipulating the vertebrae. His methods included spinal adjustments and muscle tests. He also percussion.
Chiropractic has grown in popularity over the last few years. Many people think it is more effective than traditional medicine for back pain.
Massage therapy includes rubbing, tapping or tapping on muscles, joints, or other body parts. Massage is used to loosen tight muscles and relieve tension. Massage therapists use Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports, reflexology, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and others.
Reflexology refers to alternative medicine that uses pressure to apply pressure to specific areas of your feet and hands using thumb pads and fingers. Reflexologists claim that this method stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal.
Aromatherapy uses essential oils from plants to reduce stress, increase well-being and improve moods. Because of their chemical composition, essential oils can be beneficial for a variety of health conditions such as arthritis treatment and headache relief. There are many forms of aromatherapy.
Craniosacral Therapy uses gentle touch to ease pain and discomfort. The skull is called Cranial, while the Latin word sacrum refers to the sacrum. Cranial sacral therapy combines both. The therapist applies light pressure on various areas of the patient’s head, neck, shoulders, arms and legs while moving her/his hand across the body.
Cupping therapy involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. Cupping can be combined with acupuncture and moxibustion (burning herbal remedies) to aid in detoxification.
Oral or topical supplements can contain vitamins, minerals and herbal extracts as well as amino acids, enzymes. Probiotics, antioxidants and fatty acid are all examples of dietary supplements. Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act of94 is the FDA’s regulation of dietary supplements. To be legal, a dietary supplements must meet two criteria. First, it must contain a “dietary ingredient,” meaning that it contains more than one percent of a vitamin, mineral, herb, or other botanical listed on the Food and Drug Administration’s Generally Recognized As Safe List. It must have been manufactured following Good Manufacturing Practices.
Electrotherapy uses electrical currents in order to stimulate nerves or muscles. Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) is the most popular form of electrotherapy. The skin electrodes used to place TENS devices allow for low-level electrical pulses. These pulses trigger brain receptors that block pain signals. Electrotherapy can also be used in interferencential current therapy (MFT), magnetic field therapy, or ultrasound therapy.
Energy healing relies on the belief system that all of us have innate healing abilities. In addition, our thoughts and feelings can impact our physical health. Modern energy healers accept that there are many layers of energy in and around them, even though energy healing has been practiced for centuries. One layer is called emotional and another is mental energy. The second layer is called mental energy. Others include spiritual, psychic, chakras vital, life force prana, Kundalini and biofield as well as quantum fields. Some believe that these energies are connected to the universe at large. Some claim that they can heal others using just their mind. Unfortunately, the scientific evidence supporting energy medicine is weak.
Energy psychology involves studying how human emotions affect physiological functions and vice versa. Energy psychology is often considered an alternative for psychotherapy, as it does not focus on past events but rather on helping clients to change their behaviour. Energy psychology does not require any specific theoretical framework but draws from many disciplines, including cognitive behavioral therapy, transactional analysis, interpersonal psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and developmental psychology.
