ChatGPT, Bard, and MedPaLM have all made their mark in the AI world. After the success of the first-generation language model, many alternatives have been developed, such as the open-source Spark NLP for Healthcare. Today, we will explore alternative solutions, which are based on the principles of ChatGPT but have potential applications in the healthcare and scientific sectors.
ChatGPT has many advantages, but also some drawbacks. These include a knowledge cutoff date of November 2021, OpenAI’s unilateral control, iOS-only mobile apps, and API integration that can be expensive.
The large language model ecosystem continues to grow rapidly. There are now dozens, if not hundreds, of ChatGPT alternative options. Let’s look at some of the other interesting options available.
AutoGPT and Co
ChatGPT’s open-source equivalents allow anyone to integrate GPT-4 in their services or create AI machines that can perform autonomous tasks. AutoGPT, the original version, requires programming knowledge. However, anyone can test versions such as GodMode or AiAgent without having to learn Python.
AutoGPT is a fully autonomous example of GPT-4’s AI in action. It shows how the AI can chain together “thoughts” based on its language model to achieve set goals. AutoGPT is able to answer relevant questions and prompt itself until it comes up with a solution. Theoretically, I say, because during my testing these solutions did not really show a revolutionary approach, but rather a systematic one.
These agents can access the internet, manage long-term and a short-term memory and generate text using GPT-4 instances. They can even summarize files. AutoGPT can be extended with plugins.
AutoGPT, however, is not a finished product. It may fail in real-world situations that are not so complex. Be prepared to pay a high operating cost.
ChatPDF
This tool is for reviewing pdf documents. ChatPDF will analyze your pdf file and answer your questions. It was tested on our research paper, and the answers provided were accurate. I tested it with a Hungarian HR survey which included a lot of visuals. The answers were useless.
Theoretically, this app is able to understand any language. It will respond in the preferred language. ChatPDF ensures the safety of your data by storing it in a secure cloud. You can delete this data whenever you want.
Perplexity.ai
This tool is similar to ChatGPT, but it can also search the internet. During my tests, I found that it sometimes struggles to understand prompts. When looking up new statistics, the program often returns data that is several years old. It’s also very fun and fast to use. It’s also cool that you can see where the algorithm got its answers from, which is very useful.
Perplexity is less smooth in its “conversations”, and it tends to ignore my previous prompts even if they are within the same thread. The “guess who am I” game, where I ask the AI to create a profile based on the previous thread prompts I made, completely drove itself into an meaningless loop regarding AI language models.
Positive: There are both iOS and Android applications and a Chrome Extension.
Magicslides.app
This tool is designed to turn text into “visually stunning presentations”. The tool’s USP is its ability to create presentations based on a topic or a number of slides. Customization options include fonts, layouts, themes and color palettes. It offers a limited number of presentations for free per month. However, any additional presentations would require a paid subscription. You have to accept to run advertisements in your browser when you install the software, which could deter some users. It discourages me.
MagicSlides’ algorithm isn’t the only one available. Many users suggest other options like Tome or Storyd or PowerMode AI, to name just a few.
Consensus.app
The AI-powered search engine is designed to extract the most important findings from scientific research. This is a great idea, and I think that such tools will be very useful in the future. Although we are still a long way from the goal, progress is being made.
I began testing the system by asking myself a few questions that I was really curious about but didn’t have time to research properly. Why do so many woman have lower back pain on the day of their period? Or “Is there any correlation between having siblings and how many children you have?” Will being an only-child increase or decrease one’s chances of having only one child? “None of these questions were answered by consensus.
Theoretically, I like the Synthesize feature. It would save me a lot time researching complex topics. It is a bit dumb at the moment. It was useless. I even tried it with increasingly simple questions. It never gave me a synthesis. Instead, it always said “not enough data”.
Then I searched “How is GPT-4 Used in Healthcare?” and got the following summary: “These Studies suggest that GPT-4 can be used for clinical emergencies, to measure blood flow and improve mental health as well as in training healthcare providers and in various medical procedures.” This is completely useless as it cannot differentiate between GPT-4 (liver enzyme GPT) and GPT-4 (blood pressure).
Overall, the consensus will not be able answer any questions that you do not already know the answers to. However, I like the concept.
Scite.ai
Smart Citations is a new approach to research from this Brooklyn-based startup. It helps researchers better understand the context of the article cited and the evidence it provides. The startup has extracted 1.2 billion citations statements from 180,000,000 articles, preprints and datasets. Researchers can benefit from features like Search Citation Statements and Journals & Institution metrics, as well as the option to create a personalised Dashboard.
Elicit.org
Elicit, an AI-powered assistant for research, promises to automate certain workflows. Literature Review is a major workflow that helps find relevant papers, summarize important information, and extract crucial details. Theoretically, it can find relevant papers even if there is no perfect keyword match. It can also create summaries of abstracts that are specific to your query and look at the citation graph in order to find other relevant papers.
You can also customize what you see on the paper, and you can organize documents based on that information. The tool is still in its early stages and has some limitations. However, it’s being updated and improved constantly, which suggests a promising future.
Although we are still not there, progress is being made
There are many apps available for various purposes. Currently, they are all limited and their use in medical work is difficult (or impossible) in some cases. We are still in the early stages of this revolution, and I am confident that these tools will mature to be highly reliable and useful colleagues.

These include homeopathy, acupuncture, aromatherapy and reflexology as well as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Ayurveda and naturopathy. Complementary therapies are those treatments that go beyond conventional treatment. They can also be used with conventional medicine. These include supplements like vitamins, minerals, herbs and amino acids as well probiotics and other natural substances.
Both forms of medicine may be used. However, most conventional doctors will not recommend them due either to insufficient evidence nor safety concerns.
There is not consensus among health professionals regarding the best approach for integrating CAM in patient care.
Many CAM practices are based on theories developed over thousands of years. These therapies have had some clinical success over the past 20-years.
As an example, several studies indicate that acupuncture may relieve pain. The preliminary data suggests that acupuncture may decrease nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy. Some studies have shown that acupuncture may be beneficial for irritable bowel syndrome (FBS), fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple Sclerosis, migraines, tension headaches as well as anxiety and depression.
Other CAM methods may have therapeutic effects on conditions like HIV/AIDS and diabetes, heart disease or hypertension, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and rheumatoidarthritis.
Although there is still much to learn about the effectiveness and safety of CAM, experts are unanimous in their belief that it can be used to treat various conditions.
As a consequence, more people turn to CAM practitioners for relief of common illnesses.
Despite this growing popularity, many people remain confused about what exactly constitutes “alternative” or “complementary” medicine.
Why is alternative medicine important?
Alternative medicines are very popular because they’re often cheaper and better for you than traditional treatments. Patients have sometimes died after receiving these treatments. This could be due to allergic reactions or side effects. You may also find that alternative therapies are not as effective.
In addition, alternative medicines can be dangerous if you don’t know enough about them to choose the right ones. Vitamin supplements, such as vitamin pills, are not controlled like pharmaceuticals. Therefore, it is possible to overdose. Worse, alternative remedies may contain toxic chemicals.

Holistic medicine’s goal is to treat the whole person rather than just individual symptoms. Holistic medicine is not about curing the disease. It promotes healing.
Holistic medicine is a combination of preventive measures like exercise and nutrition, as well as treatments for chronic conditions like arthritis and diabetes.
There are many types of holistic medicine.
- Acupuncture
- Aromatherapy
- Ayurveda
- Chiropractic medicine
- Homeopathy
- Herbalism
- Naturopathy
- Nutrition
- Osteopathic medicine
- Vedic medicine
- Yoga
What is another name for alternative medicine?
Alternative medicine can be described as any method of healing that is different from traditional medical practice. There are many different forms of alternative medicine. Most are based upon the idea that health care should not be dependent on chemical medicines.
Alternative medicine includes acupuncture. Homeopathy, herbalism. naturopathy. osteopathic manipul. Traditional Chinese medicine. Reflexology. Shamanic healing. Prayer. Energy healing. Aromatherapy. Meditation. Chiropractic. Massage therapy. Reiki.
Many alternative practitioners claim that their treatments result in better health outcomes. This includes a lower risk of developing side effects and higher patient satisfaction. These claims cannot be proven scientifically because the mainstream medical system has largely ignored evidence-based alternatives to medicine.
What does holistic actually mean?
Holistic refers to being whole-based. Holistic means seeing the whole picture and not just parts of it. This is not always easy because we are used to seeing things as separate parts.
We tend to think of black and then white. But actually, there is an infinite variety of shades of grey.
You should always see the project from many angles when working on it. It is important to see it from all angles.
Take the time to look at it as a whole. How do its various elements interact with each other?
You should also ask yourself why the problem is occurring. Also, consider the impact of any changes that you make.

What are the products used in holistic medicine, and how do they differ?
This product can be described as “natural” without necessarily being organic. These products may have been grown with natural pesticides and fertilizers, but were also processed in a way that is less harmful to the human body. Some herbs can trigger allergic reactions in certain people, so it is important to make sure that they are prepared according to their requirements. Health food stores sell herbs that are more uniform than those in grocery stores. Higher levels of herbicides or fungicides can be found in these latter products.
The majority of herbal supplements are made from dried plants. Some people prefer to purchase them in liquid form because they are usually cheaper. But, liquid herbs are not necessarily safer. Liquid herbs can lose nutrients during processing. It’s not guaranteed that the product will retain its original strength. Also, most herbal supplements do not undergo quality control testing before going on sale shelves.
Spices and herbs are usually added to foods after they have been cooked. You’ll find them in condiments like ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, barbecue sauce, soup mixes, and marinades.
Supplements can be taken orally (by the mouth). Most vitamins and mineral supplements are available as tablets. Some are also available as capsules.
Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted substances derived from plant, animal, mineral, or synthetic sources. They can stimulate the body’s healing abilities. They are “homeopathic” and do not have the same effect as regular medicines. They activate the immune system of the body to restore balance and promote well-being. Homeopathic remedies are considered safe and non-toxic. They are widespread in Europe, Canada Australia, New Zealand South America, Asia and Africa.
Acupuncture uses fine needles to insert into specific points along your meridians. It is based a traditional Chinese medical theory that states there are energy channels through them, where the life force flows. This theory claims that illness can be caused by blockages within these channels. By stimulating certain points along the meridian lines with fine needles, energy flow is believed to be restored, and the body returns to normal functioning.
Chiropractors manipulate the spine to correct misalignments of the bones. American doctor Daniel David Palmer developed this technique in 1895. He claimed he could diagnose ailments and cure diseases through manipulating the vertebrae. His methods included spinal adjustments as well as muscle tests and percussion.
Chiropractic has gained popularity in recent years. Many believe that it works better for back pain than conventional medicine.
Massage therapy uses rubbing, kneading and tapping to massage muscles, joints, as well as other body parts. Massage can help loosen tight muscles, ease tension, and relax sore muscle. Swedish massage, deep tissues, sports, reflexology, myofascialrelease, trigger point therapy and other methods are used by massage therapists.
Reflexology is an alternative medicine involving pressure applied to specific areas of the feet and hands using thumb pads, fingers, and toes. Reflexologists claim this stimulates the body’s natural healing process.
Aromatherapy uses essential oil extracted from plants to relieve stress and boost mood. Essential oils are therapeutic as their chemical makeup can benefit health conditions such arthritis treatment to headache relief. Aromatherapy can be used in many ways, including:
Craniosacral Therapy uses gentle touch to ease pain and discomfort. Cranial refers to the skull; sacrum means “sac” in Latin, and cranial sacral therapy combines both. This therapy uses light pressure to apply pressure to specific areas on the head and neck, shoulders or arms. It also involves moving the hands around the body of the patient.
Cupping therapy is performed by applying cups to the skin to create suction and draw out toxins. Cupping may also be used in combination with acupuncture (burning herbs), or as a detox method.
Dietary supplements are oral or topical products that contain vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts, amino acids, enzymes, probiotics, antioxidants, and fatty acids. The FDA regulates dietary supplements under the Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act of 1994. Two criteria must be met before a dietary supplement can be legally sold. First, it must contain a “dietary ingredient,” meaning that it contains more than one percent of a vitamin, mineral, herb, or other botanical listed on the Food and Drug Administration’s Generally Recognized As Safe List. Second, it must have been manufactured according to Good Manufacturing Practices, meaning its ingredients were handled properly during production.
Electrotherapy uses currents to stimulate nerves, and muscles. The most common form of electrotherapy is transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS). The skin electrodes used to place TENS devices allow for low-level electrical pulses. These pulses activate brain receptors to block pain signals. You can also use electrotherapy in other ways, such as interferencential current therapy or magnetic field treatment, and even ultrasound therapy.
Energy healing is based on the belief that we all possess innate healing abilities and that our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and intentions affect our physical health. Although energy healing has existed since ancient times, modern practitioners generally accept that there are multiple layers of energy within and around us. Emotional energy is one layer. Another layer of energy is called mental. Other energies include the physical, spiritual, chakras and vital, life force. These energies may be connected to the entire universe, according to some. Some claim to be able to heal others using only the power of their minds. Unfortunately, the scientific evidence supporting energy medicine is weak.
Energy psychology is about studying the effects of emotions on physiological functions, and vice versa. Because it is less about past events than on helping clients change their behavior, energy psychology can sometimes be considered an alternative to psychotherapy. Energy psychology does not require any specific theoretical framework but draws from many disciplines, including cognitive behavioral therapy, transactional analysis, interpersonal psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and developmental psychology.
