Many people share the goal of maintaining and achieving a healthy weight. According to the CDC, 40% of adults in America are overweight. It is not difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle and lose weight.
Nearly 80 per cent of people under 36 years old say they could be healthier.
Fad diets and one size fits all wellness plans promise quick results. However, these programs may not take into account your unique health and wellness needs. Quick fixes don't take into account a person’s history or needs and tend to be unsuccessful in the long-term.
For your overall health and well-being, it is important to maintain a healthy weight. But, many people struggle to maintain a healthy weight for the long-term. If you don't know how to get rid of extra weight, it can be difficult. You must change your lifestyle to achieve your weight loss goal.
Jennifer Brooks, co-founder and president of GOLO, LLC, a company that provides health and wellness solutions, is Jennifer Brooks. Jennifer is board-certified in holistic nutrition. She also holds degrees in culinary arts, mind-body transformational psychology, and culinary arts. Jennifer is passionate about helping people live a healthier life. It was evident in just a few minutes that Jennifer was interested in this.
Here are some highlights of our conversation.
Many weight loss and weight management programs have a Yo-Yo effect. You lose 20 pounds, but gain back 25. How does one lose weight and keep it off?
Jennifer : It's called Yo-Yo Dieting because it's exactly what it is. It's possible to lose 20 pounds but lose it wrongly. You often gain the weight back plus five to ten more pounds. The worst part is that you have gained more fat than ever before. This new ratio will require your body to adjust. This is similar to when people say “I don’t know why” I can't lose weight.”
The right way to lose weight is key to lasting and sustainable results. Slow and steady is the best way to lose fat and get your body under control. This should be your goal. Healthy weight loss should be between one and 2 pounds per week.
You can lose weight and maintain it by eating healthy, whole foods, exercising, and establishing good sleeping habits. You are denying your body the nutrients it needs by losing weight fast by cutting calories, carbs, or fat. Although you might lose weight, it is likely that you will plateau quickly and find it difficult to maintain your loss.
Tell us more about the importance eating healthy, balanced meals with whole-foods.
Jennifer : It is important to ensure that every meal you consume is balanced. To get a balanced nutrition, each meal must contain protein, carbs, vegetables, and fat. Whole-foods are better than processed, low-fat, or diet foods. You should choose whole milk yogurt over low-fat or 2% yogurt if you are going to eat yogurt. A balanced healthy meal is possible for anyone, regardless of whether they are trying to lose weight or live a healthier lifestyle.
A holistic nutrition model is a whole-food diet. It is important to eat food in its natural state, or as close as possible to it. For example, you might prefer to eat whole fruits rather than just the juice. Because different nutrients are obtained from different foods, balanced meals make sense. You need to eat a balanced diet to ensure your body is getting the right nutrition for you mind, body, and mood. You'll be missing nutrients if you cut out a food group. They won't be available in any other foods. Holistic nutrition is a combination of whole-food and well-balanced foods to ensure you get all the nutrients you need.
People are resistant to eating whole foods because they think it is too difficult. It is not a problem that time is a factor. While an orange takes less time to eat than consuming orange juice, it provides more nutrients. It takes some education to eat healthier, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you need to cook gourmet meals. It is easier to eat foods in their natural state. While it may take twenty minutes for a portion of rice to cook, it takes twenty minutes to prepare a frozen meal and bake it. You can eat vegetables raw. You can wash them and cut them. It's perception. But in a way it's just an obstacle that you are putting in front yourself.
A balanced diet is also important. Because your body needs a variety of nutrients to function efficiently, it is important to have a balanced diet that includes healthy fats, carbohydrates, vegetables, protein, and carbs. This might be different for everyone. If you are more active, you may need more carbs and protein. Or you might need the protein to sustain you for longer periods of time. This will vary depending on who you are, what your age is, and how sedentary. It all starts with the basic protein, carb, vegetable and fat groups.
As your metabolism improves and uses food more efficiently, people sometimes feel hungry. Your body may be working more efficiently, so you can eat more and not gain weight. Your body will tell you what to do. You might also need to eat more if you are active on weekends and go hiking than you would if you were sitting at a computer all day.
How important is exercise in weight loss and living a healthier lifestyle as we eat better?
Jennifer : Healthy eating habits can make a difference in your weight loss and overall health. You can get other health benefits by adding exercise to your daily routine. You can improve your overall health by including exercise into your daily routine, no matter if you are a cardio- or strength-training fanatic.
What does emotional eating have to do with our health?
Jennifer : Emotional eating may lead to poor food choices, such as overeating or choosing unhealthy foods. Emotional eating can be caused by stress, fatigue, low blood sugar, hunger, or other health issues. If not addressed, emotional eating can lead to weight gain, a loss of motivation to exercise and socialize, which can all have a negative impact on health. People can be motivated to recognize their triggers for emotional eating and find a healthier way of coping with them.
Hunger or Food Cravings What are the differences between them?
Jennifer : It's difficult to distinguish between hunger and cravings. Hunger refers to the need for food. Hunger can cause stomach cramps or fatigue. But once you eat, these feelings will disappear. Cravings can be defined as the need for food or a particular food. Stress, fatigue, boredom, and habit can all lead to cravings. Cravings can be caused by a desire to eat unhealthy foods, which can lead to poor weight loss or a decreased ability to live a healthy life.
Your company, GOLO is distinguished by your approach to weight loss. It is based on a holistic diet, healthy lifestyle and healthy habits. Why?
Jennifer : Our goal is to empower people to live healthier lives by encouraging them to make lifestyle changes. It won't happen overnight. It takes time. We want people to improve their habits, such as eating whole foods, exercising more, and getting better sleep. It takes time to make healthy habits automatic.
A habit is not something you can build in one day. Even if you promise to do the same thing for 30 days and then stop, it doesn't mean you have to give up. This is the bigger picture. It's about creating new healthy habits for a lifetime.
Weight is only one thing. It's only a number on the scale. It is only one way to measure progress. There are many other ways to gauge progress. Even if you only do it for five days straight, it is still progress. That's what I did. Five days straight, I ate breakfast. I'd never had breakfast before. This is a sign that I am making progress. Either I am sleeping better, or I realize it's midday, so I don't feel like I'm in a slump at three o'clock. I felt a little calmer. I stayed fuller longer. I discovered a new vegetable I liked. These are all real achievements.
It is more than just the number on the scale that matters. The path to lasting weight loss and a healthier lifestyle requires you to look beyond the numbers. Many people notice a change in their bodies long before the number on the scale. It is possible that your clothes fit better, even though the scale isn't moving. This can be frustrating. It's important to know that there are many ways to measure progress. Even if you decide to cook dinner instead of ordering takeout, it's still progress. All of these little victories keep you motivated to continue moving forward, to the next day, to the next week until it becomes a regular part of your daily life. Exercise is the same. Even if it takes you five minutes to complete the exercise, it is still five minutes. It is important to let go of immediate gratification and focus on the long-term.

Alternate medicines can be dangerous, especially if you don’t know enough to choose the best ones. For example, vitamin supplements aren't regulated like pharmaceuticals, so it's easy to overdose on vitamins. To make matters worse, there are alternative remedies that contain toxic chemicals.
