ChatGPT plugins were released a few months ago, and I’ve been testing them out to see what their capabilities are. These new gadgets offer some interesting features for all walks of your life. Let’s have a look.
What are ChatGPT plug-ins and where can I get them?
Imagine these apps as extra programs on your phone that will give ChatGPT additional skills.
How do I access the beta features?
GPT-4 is only available to paid users. Click on your name at the bottom of the page, then go to Settings, and click on Beta Features. Then, you can allow the features with a slider.
How do I add plugins to my website?
The process of adding plugins is similar to that of adding apps to your smartphone: you have a “plugin shop” where you can choose whatever you like. Hover over the GPT-4 area when you open a new conversation and you’ll see three options:
1. Browse with Bing and 3. Browse with Bing, 3. Plugins. If you wish to search or use plugins, click on the Plugins option.
What are they?
You can only use 3 plugins at a time.
I’ll list a few plugins which can be used for medical or scientific work. There are many other plugins that can be used for a variety of things, including diets and Aussie surf reports, as well as fetching the most recent prices of Pokemon cards in Japan. You can search for anything you like!
Note that they may not be very useful right now. Most of these plugins are not very useful yet for a variety of reasons. They give us a glimpse of the future, when everyone will have a personal AI assistant.
What are the current problems?
These apps either aren’t reliable enough or pose so many privacy risks that I am not willing to risk them. Or, they often combine both. Don’t click on everything and ignore the privacy risks!
For this article, I created a test Gmail account and Google profile. It would have been too much to let OpenAI and the app developers gain access to my main profile.
What can you do using plugins?
Here are some interesting ones.
Zapier: Interact with Gmail Sheets, Docs HubSpot Salesforce
It promises “Interact with more than 5,000+ applications like Google Sheets and Gmail”. Theoretically, all you need to do is ask ChatGPT to send and draft an email directly using your Gmail Account. This way, there’s no need to switch browser windows. You can also connect it with other Google gadgets like your Google sheets or documents library.
In reality, I failed to set up the simplest automations. My last attempt can be seen here.
I think that this tool is more of a game than a useful one.
- First, I couldn’t justify the privacy fee
- It doesn’t simplify my workflow until I’m able to use ChatGPT as a trigger for actions. I was unable to do this. This means I’m going to have to switch windows.
- Theoretically, I could have automated the process of sending Berci an email asking her to review new articles that I placed in a Google Drive folder. However, the Zap wasn’t able to access the folder.
- You get my point. It’s a great idea but it needs to be refined in a number of ways before it can be your omnipotent assistant, even for those without coding background.
Link Reader
They are meant to perform similar tasks.
Access Link requires a link and you can ask about the content.
Both plugins work in theory, but are not reliable. They can randomly access certain pages one day and then can’t the next. These plugins are useful if you need a summary of very long texts (ones that exceed the maximum length of a ChatGPT request, for example), but they’re not 100% reliable.
Since we have already the beta features for these tasks, the “Browse With Bing” option tends to work more reliably, but is quite slow. Perplexity is my favorite in this respect, as it’s usually very fast, and delivers the correct answer quite often. Perplexity.ai and Bing both let you know the source of the answers.
ScholarAI
Search 40M+ peer reviewed papers, explore scientific PDFs and save for reference.
This plugin has mixed feelings for me. I am unsure if it is delivering the most relevant and reliable studies. I’m not sure whether it has access (or at the very least, most) to scientific journals.
When I searched for papers using “ChatGPT”, “Healthcare”, and other keywords, the search engine returned a large number of results, which overlapped with my other searches. When I asked it to show me the 5 most cited articles, I was given a different number. Sometimes, there were more citations, other times, they were less.
AskYourPDF
This plugin does a great job summarizing the content of our most recent policy report. It did a good job when I asked it for a list of key takeaways as bullet points.
It was accurate at the highest level – who the audience is, what the topic is, etc. – but it then cited random examples that were not the most important and failed to tell me the topics of the major chapters. This could have been useful for someone looking for a summary for a new text.
Show me diagrams
Create and edit diagrams in the chat.
I asked for a diagram showing how to use Show Me Diagrams.
This is the result.
It is not particularly beautiful or fancy, but it does the job. This is one of the most solid of all the plugins I tried, but you will never win beauty contests with the results – and they are rather hard to personalise/tweak/improve.
Wolfram
Alpha and Wolfram Language.”
The Wolfram plugin can be used for many different tasks including math, coding and life sciences. ChatGPT is often criticized for its poor math skills, but with the Wolfram plug-in it becomes much more accurate.
It gave me a detailed answer when I asked to calculate monthly payments for a five-year loan at 5% interest. The table included the yearly balances and the amount of principal that was paid each year.
After several rounds of tweaking, they created this.
This result could have been achieved by making this pie chart in Excel or Google Sheets 30 times. The result would be better looking and show the actual numbers, but it still points to interesting new directions.
Prompt Perfect
Type ‘perfect’ for the perfect prompt every time
This plugin is designed to enhance your prompts. Sincerly, I did not notice a difference in quality between using the plugin and not.
ChatGPT will still use the plugin to understand my prompts even if I don’t use “perfect” prompts. It is quite interesting to watch. I try to determine what makes them so confusing.
Video Summary
Summarize highlights of YouTube videos. “Generate summaries using YouTube video URLs.”
This works with videos with transcripts only, which is rare for languages like ours. The summaries go into more detail than Shownotes.
Shownotes
“Turns podcasts into short summaries. Finds specific info. Highlights key points. And suggests new episodes.”
ChatGPT was one of the most popular plugins. However, it only works on videos/podcasts with transcripts. This isn’t a big deal, since I can already summarise this transcript using ChatGPT. I don’t understand why these podcasts should be summarized in bullet points of 5-10, or whatever. That is the exact opposite of what podcasts do.
It also recommended new podcasts that were based on my interest, but they weren’t relevant.
I noticed a major difference between these two apps. I sent both apps a link to the recording of Terraforming Mars and asked who won. Video Summary gave me the right answer (the streaming app won), and also correctly identified the game and reported the key turning points. Shownoted, on the other hand, delivered the following verdict:
The video is a recording from a match between the Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Golden State Warriors. The Los Angeles Lakers were the winners of this game.
The future is a glimpse
These plugins are a great way to see the future of AI. They’re also fun and exciting to use. Remember that these plugins aren’t perfect. Use their outputs with caution.
Many are still in the early stages of development and could be improved. You should always be aware that privacy is an important concern when using these plug-ins.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is alternative medicine important
Alternative treatments are becoming more popular as they’re cheaper and more effective than traditional therapies. Many patients have died due to side effects or allergic reactions after using these treatments. There are also alternatives that may be more effective.
In addition, alternative medicines can be dangerous if you don’t know enough about them to choose the right ones. For example, vitamin supplements aren’t regulated like pharmaceuticals, so it’s easy to overdose on vitamins. Even worse, some alternative remedies contain toxic chemicals.
Why is holistic medicine better?
Holistic healthcare focuses on the whole person and not just individual symptoms. This involves looking at the person’s feelings, food, lifestyle, stress levels, etc.
Holistic medicine considers all aspects of a patient’s life and treats them as a complete package. Although this sounds easy in theory, it’s very difficult to do in practice. Many doctors only focus on the physical aspects of patients.
Is holistic medical care the same as alternative medicines?
Holistic Health Care distinguishes itself from Alternative Medicine because Holistic Health Care focuses on the whole person instead of just treating symptoms.
Holistic Health Care examines all aspects a person’s health including the mental, emotional, spiritual and occupational factors as well as family factors.
Alternative Medicine doesn’t address these issues. It does not address the mind, body, or emotions.
Who uses alternative medicine
Alternative medicine is available for many reasons.
- They want to avoid harmful drugs and surgery.
- They believe natural remedies are more effective.
- They prefer non-invasive treatment.
- They want less money.
- They feel more secure using natural products
- They desire more control over their healthcare decisions.
- They are ready to take charge of their health.
- They want a healthier world.
- They seek less stress in daily life.
- They desire greater control over their doctors and their healthcare plans.
- They want their children to have a better education.
- They desire healthy food for their families and themselves.
- They want safe, effective medications.
Can a holistic doctor write prescriptions?
Holistic medicine is based upon the belief that all diseases can be caused by a combination factors. This includes diet, lifestyle, environment stress, stress, emotions, genetics and other health-related issues.
A well-rounded approach to treating patients includes considering these variables when prescribing medication.
A physician must be able to understand both modern science and traditional methods like herbs and homeopathy in order to understand the effects of each factor on a patient.
Many doctors have become certified in complementary and alternative medicine (C&A). This allows them offer a wide range of services to patients.

What products can be used in holistic medicines?
It would be best to describe these products as “natural”, but not necessarily organic. They may have been grown using natural fertilizers and pesticides, but they were also processed in ways that are less harmful to human health. Some herbs, such as some that can cause allergic reactions, may need to be prepared differently depending upon their specific needs. It is more common to find herbs in grocery stores than at health food shops. These herbs often have higher levels of herbicides than those sold at grocery stores.
The majority of herbal supplements are made from dried plants. Some people prefer to purchase them in liquid form because they are usually cheaper. However, this doesn’t mean that they are safer. Liquid herbs can lose nutrients during processing. The product may lose its original potency. Most herbal supplements are not subject to quality control before they are sold.
Usually, herbs and spices are added to food after it has been cooked. You’ll find them in condiments like ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, barbecue sauce, soup mixes, and marinades.
Supplements are typically taken orally (by mouth). Most vitamins and mineral supplements are available as tablets. Other vitamins and minerals can be purchased in capsules.
Homeopathic remedies, which are highly diluted substances, can be derived from any plant, animal or mineral. They are meant to stimulate the body’s healing mechanisms. They can be called “homeopathic”, but they don’t work the same as regular medications. Instead, they act on the body’s immune system to restore balance and promote wellness. Homeopathic remedies have been proven safe and effective. They are popularly used in Europe and South America.
Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles in specific points along the meridians. This is based on traditional Chinese medical theories that energy channels are the pathways through which life force flows. According to the theory, illness occurs when these channels become blocked. It is believed that energy flow can be restored by stimulating specific points along the meridian lines using fine needles. The body then returns to normal operation.
Chiropractors manipulate the spine to correct misalignments of the bones. American doctor Daniel David Palmer invented this technique in 1895. Palmer claimed that he could cure and diagnose diseases by manipulating the spines. His methods included spinal adjustments, muscle tests and percussion.
Chiropractic has grown in popularity over the last few years. Many people believe that chiropractic is better than traditional medicine to relieve back pain.
Massage therapy includes rubbing, tapping or tapping on muscles, joints, or other body parts. Massage is a great way to relax tight muscles and reduce tension. Massage therapists use Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports, reflexology, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and others.
Reflexology, an alternative form of medicine, involves pressure being applied to certain areas of the feet or hands with thumb pads, fingers and toes. Reflexologists believe that this technique stimulates the body’s natural ability heal.
Aromatherapy uses essential oil extracted from plants to relieve stress and boost mood. Because of their chemical composition, essential oils can be beneficial for a variety of health conditions such as arthritis treatment and headache relief. Aromatherapy comes in many forms, including:
Craniosacral Therapy uses gentle touch to ease pain and discomfort. Cranial is the skull, sacrum is Latin for “sac”, and cranial-sacral therapy combines both. In this therapy, the therapist applies light pressure to various spots on the head, face, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, and torso while moving her/his hands across the patient’s body.
Cupping therapy uses cups placed on the skin to produce suction and draw out toxins. Cupping can be used to detoxify.
Dietary Supplements are oral or topical products containing vitamins, minerals. The FDA regulates dietary supplements under the Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act of 1994. Two criteria must be met before a dietary supplement can be legally sold. First, the product must be a “dietary ingredient” which means it contains more that one percent of a vitamin mineral, herb or other botanical on the Food and Drug Administration’s Generally Recognized As Safe List. It must also have adhered to Good Manufacturing Practices. This means that its ingredients were properly handled during production.
Electrotherapy uses electric currents to stimulate muscles and nerves. The most common type of electrotherapy is transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). Low-level electrical pulses can be delivered to the skin by TENS devices. These pulses activate brain receptors to block pain signals. You can also use electrotherapy in other ways, such as interferencential current therapy or magnetic field treatment, and even ultrasound therapy.
Energy healing is based upon the belief that all people have inherent healing abilities. Our thoughts, feelings and intentions can also affect our physical health. Energy healing has been around since ancient times. Modern practitioners however, accept that there are multiple layers to our energy. One layer is called emotional and another is mental energy. Another layer is known as mental energy. Other energies include the physical, spiritual, chakras and vital, life force. Many believe these energies are linked to the whole universe. Some claim to be able to heal others using only the power of their minds. But, there is limited scientific evidence to support the use of energy medicine.
Energy psychology is the study and application of human emotions to physiological functions. Because it doesn’t focus on the past but focuses more on helping clients change their behavior now, energy psychology is sometimes considered an alternative or complementary to psychotherapy. Energy psychology does not require any specific theoretical framework but draws from many disciplines, including cognitive behavioral therapy, transactional analysis, interpersonal psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and developmental psychology.
